Purple Parisian Party

Posted by Anne Yorks on Friday, September 12, 2014

Last week, we had a very exciting weekend! We celebrated both of my girls birthdays! Their birthdays are two weeks apart, so we planned one celebration with our friends and family for both in the middle!

My oldest daughter, who is turning seven, has spent the summer studying France, especially Paris. She has enjoyed learning about the history, the people, the food, the art, and of course the French pastries!! Our local librarian was very helpful with finding books about France. I've posted a list of our favorite books at the bottom of this post!

I've done several PINK Paris cookie collections. But this was my first in shades of purple, a special request from the birthday girl herself!

These cute beret girls were the featured cookies on the platter. Of course she had brown hair just like Grace!

But, the favors also included several polka dot fleur-de-lis cookies!

The Eiffel Tower and passport stamp cookies were also included. I had done these before, and they are so fun to make!

Right about now, I think I should make a disclaimer that I'm not a cake lady. I'm a cookie girl! But, I like to make my daughters' cakes! So when I make cakes, I put cookies on them of course!

The cakes matched in style :) Both featuring the girls names! (Cecelia's cookies/cake were character themed, so no photos of her birthday treats since I don't normally offer those!)

Front and center was the beret girl with pigtails! Gracie made that executive decision.

I made a bunch of royal icing transfers and added these fleur-de-lis 'candies' around the base of the cake.

I popped on an Eiffel Tower and a Poodle and ... Viola! The cake was donesies!

And she loved it!

Before the guests arrived, Grace pulled out several of her favorite cookies and set them to the side to give to our helpful librarian. She wrote her own thank you note, too!!

As promised, here are a few of the children's books that we really enjoyed.  These were all available at our library, but each title will be linked to amazon in case you want to check them out:
