Thanks A Million!

***Welcome to Bake at 350 readers! I hope you enjoy my recent cookie project. Special thanks to Bridget for organizing such a fun way to share ideas!! If you leave a comment - please include your blog address so that I can check you out too!***

I'm elbow deep in a few cookie projects today. I have a few moments while some butter softens and icing dries. I usually try not to work on Sunday's, but this week I have to due to several projects that need to be delivered on Monday and Tuesday.

And anyway, today's not all work. We had church this morning. My little girl was so nice and quiet throughout the service. This is becoming the norm. I'm so happy. These days we get more smiles than annoyed looks. Although, I think as a mom those looks were more imagined than anything. I always get so nervous that we are disrupting everyone around us. Maybe those days are behind us? Maybe it's because I'm getting better at packing her activity bag?

It's a gorgeous, sunny day in Happy Valley. Low humidity, not too hot, and just enough clouds in the sky to give me an hour on our deck to read my book. Mamacita, the mother bird that built the nest on our light fixture, even found the scene peaceful enough to sit with me in the sun. Click here to check out Wednesday's post for the up close pics of her nest and four eggs.

I think I'm rambling. I'll focus now.

I just added a new 'regular' item to the Flour Box shop. It's a cookie gift called 'Thanks A Million'.

This cookie gift is a great way to show your gratitude. It includes a dozen cookies: 4 dollar signs, 4 'Thanks A Million' cookies, and 4 million dollar bill cookies.

Here are a few close-ups of the detail on the 'Thank-jamin' (this was Toph's joke. Get it? Benjamin. Thank-jamin. hee hee. We are so easily amused.)

It takes some time to get all this writing on here!! But I love the overall look. Do you like my president guy?

He's friendly, isn't he? I'm voting for him in 2012.

Here's the message cookie and a good shot of the dollar sign. You probably already know this, but the dollar sign was originally a 'U' layered on top of an 'S'. Over time, the symbol simplified to an 'S' with two lines. And, it's also common to see it with a single line. If you're a history buff you may want to check out Wikipedia's other dollar sign origin theories. The 'US' version is my favorite. So I'm going to go with it.

I wonder when I'll hit the million cookie mark? I should keep track. It could be fun.

While making this collection I kept thinking about all the things I'm thankful for. Life has certainly thrown a few curve balls my way over the last year and at times it's been all too convenient to hole up on my sofa and focus on the negative.

My good friend Anne Narber (remember Peep Narber?), gave me a 'thank you' journal. It's been a while since I logged an entry. So I think I'll do that today and get back on track. Here are a few things I'll be sure to include:

1. Topher, my daughter, and our families. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful people and role models in our lives.  (This is already in the journal like a thousand times)

2. The new cupcake shop in State College called *ndulge. I haven't been there yet. I'm planning to go this week. And I'm thankful to have a trip to the cupcake shop to look forward to once a few of these orders are complete.

3. Our town library. It's an amazingly fun resource.

4. Nests with blue eggs.

5. My cookie business. It's really a pleasure. I can't believe it's my life. It feels like a dream come true.

My list could go on forever. I guess that's why I should add to it daily.

What are you thankful for? I'd love to know. Those types of things make me smile.

Have a sweet week,

Anne
