I love doing baby shower cookies! Often times, customers opt for the traditional onesie...

Or baby carriage...

and the bibs, bottles, and rattles are also quite popular!

But a few months ago, I got a call from a mother who wanted to throw a Noah's Ark themed baby shower. She emailed me the party invitation ...

and the thank you card for cookie inspiration...

Aren't they so cute!? I was super jazzed to start working on cookie ideas. I ordered a bunch of animal cookie cutters and started to put together ideas for my client. She decided to order Noah's Ark Cookies, Giraffe Cookies, Cat Cookies, Hippo Cookies, Monkey Cookies, Lion Cookies, and Elephant Cookies.

On the invitation, the ark has a snake on it's roof. I did my tester cookie with a snake, but decided to replace it with a white dove with an olive branch. I thought it looked more peaceful and sweet for a baby shower.

Using the invitation as inspiration, I made a pink 'sitting' cat cookie. I love its little heart nose. The white accents are added during the first phase of icing. I used a toothpick to create the 'furry' look on the face, paws, and tail. I wish cats actually came in pink. I would love a pink cat for a pet!

The giraffe cookie was not a new style. I had done him many times before. But he is one of my favorites...

The lion head is also an oldie but goodie. I 'double flood' his face to get the little round cheekie circles. To create the mane, I filled my piping bag with two colors, gold and brown. I used the leaf tip to create the fun flared look.

I updated the look of my elephant cookie for this order. I added a few trunk wrinkles and positioned his tusk a little differently. I liked the two tone blue colors used. I think it make the elephant look a little more 'baby' for the shower theme.

The hippo cookies were new to me. I had so much fun making these cookies. I loved the face. His nose holes and funky teeth make me smile for some reason. He just looks so sweet and happy.

And there was the monkey. I think all kids are little monkey-like. At least my daughter is...she loves to climb, jump and eat bananas! This monkey face is quite a large cookie. He was the biggest in this order. Our household is a PBS home, so of course we love Curious George. This guy doesn't look much like George, but he sure is cute!

I hope to start adding these cookies as regular items this week. I have a bunch of 'new' items to post on the online store...so stay tuned!

Have a sweet day,

Anne
