Super Cute Pink and Green Birthday

Posted by Anne Yorks on Friday, February 3, 2012

After taking almost 6 months off from cookie orders, I was very happy that my first order back from leave was from one of my most loyal customers. She has ordered for her college-aged daughter several times and I was so thrilled to do yet another order for her. Plus, the best part was she let me pick the designs. I really wanted to add a new pink and green birthday collection as a regular to my website...this was the perfect opportunity.

I kept the birthday shapes pretty standard: cake, presents, candles, birthday hats, and cupcakes. I used two shades of pink and two shades of green, plus a little white to balance it all out.

This birthday cake is one of the first cookie cutters I bought from coppergifts.com. It's the 'rounded cake'. I have used it a million times for a million reasons. It's probably one of my favorite cookie cutters.

Do you see the cupcake in the background? This is the second time I have done this same design. The icing on the cupcake is created using both pink colors and the white icing. Then I added a little detail with a darker pink pipe. I think it looks like a real cupcake. Mmmmmmmm.

The flower shaped cookies are simple. I think they look like a gift tag, don't you? I think it's their simple, clean look that makes them appealing. Not every cookie has to be super detailed or complicated.

Here is another cupcake...with a big blob of white icing and pink and green non-pareils. This collection also has birthday candles and birthday hats...'cause it's a party!!

My customer followed-up with me to let me know that the birthday girl loved her cookies. She did have one problem. She did not want to share with her roommates. Ha ha.

I have a little bit of non-cookie related news. Topher and I finally went out on our first date in 5 months! Well, it was probably longer than 5 months, since our last date night was before Cecelia was born.

So of course we had to take a photo to remember it. We love our girls, but we love to spend time with each other too. We already have our next date on the calendar. We are never waiting 5 months ever again, even though it was for a good reason. Isn't he handsome?

The date was especially fun because Toph got me tickets (my Christmas present) to see Kelly Clarkson. To say she is talented is an understatement. She can really sing. Our seats were fantastic (maybe 20 or so rows from the stage). Every other concert we have been to together has been a 'Topher band'. Nothing wrong with that, but it was awesome to get to see one of my favorite singers. You can't see it in the photo, but her microphone is covered in red rhinestones...and looked just like red disco dust! I couldn't help thinking that it would be a great cookie! Cookies on the brain, always.

I hope you have a great weekend! More projects to share soon, just need to keep finding a few minutes here or there to squeeze in a blog post.
