WINNERS and Mid-Project Update

Posted by Anne Yorks on Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Hello!

Things have been very busy at Flour Box Bakery! I am excited to announce the FOUR winners from each of the cookie giveaway contests. Winners will be emailed with the details of their prize!

Harvest Time Cookie Winner:

I love your cookie collection Happy Valley Harvest! It reminds me of my favorite thing about the fall—the changing of the leaves! Good luck to you all! :) Posted by Brooke on October 11, 2010

Pumpkin Patch Cookie Winner:

One Halloween a trick-or-treater came to my door dressed as "Rocky" in boxing gloves and satin shorts. Soon after I gave him some goodies, he returned for more.
"Aren't you the same 'Rocky' who left my doorstep several minutes ago?" I asked.

"Yes," he replied, "but now I'm the sequel. I'll be back three more times tonight too." Posted by Julie on October 11, 2010.

Haunted House Cookie Winner:

So cute! Great work, good luck! :D

Monster Mash Cookie Winner:

Hope this isn’t too risqué…but…one Halloween, I was a pregnant French maid and my husband dressed as a butler. On the back of his jacket was a sign. ’THE BUTLER DID IT!"

Thank you to all that entered to support the four student teams! Your comments were very fun and entertaining!

We are just past the halfway point of the project and so here is a little update on how things are going...

Overall, I am really enjoying this project. Working with the 15 students on the four teams has been time-consuming, but so much fun. I love their enthusiasm and was really pleased with their efforts on creating the product info, facebook/twitter posts, and blog posts.

Here is a team by team review:

Happy Valley Harvest Team

Product: Harvest Time (click here to order)

One of the biggest highlights of this project has been the effort from the Happy Valley Harvest Team. They did a great job with their blog post. It was creative and I think they did a great job using the photos that were provided to them. (each team got a disk with 30-40 product photos before the project started). They did a nice job of using the photos and captioning them. This team also created a team logo and flyer. This definitely impressed me! Plus did you know that they created a facebook page for their cookie collection? Yep, they did and you can view it by clicking here. I thought this was pretty creative.

The Cookie Monsters

Product: Monster Mash (Click Here to order)

The Cookie Monsters team took a different approach to their blog post. They kept it minimal, but incorporated a video from Youtube into the body of the text. This was a Flour Box Bakery first - video on the blog. I definitely give them style points for coming up with an idea different than the rest of the teams. I hope to post my own Flour Box videos in the future now that I know just how easy it is to do this!

The Cookie Lanterns

Product: Pumpkin Patch (Click Here to order)

The Cookie Lanterns presented the Pumpkin Patch cookie collection. I think this team did the best job of introducing each team member. I liked that they made it a little personal and a little humorous. I was surprised they didn't get more entries into their contest. I thought they had a fun idea of asking for a Halloween joke. Maybe that proved to be too much for blog readers? I don't know - but the winning joke definitely made me smile!

The Cookie Crew

Product: The Haunted House (Click Here to order)

And last, but not least, is the Cookie Crew. This team did the best job of incorporating the blog photos into their post. I really liked that they cropped/edited photos to make them flow better on the blog. I also noticed the biggest jump the number of Flour Box Facebook fans from this team. Way to go Cookie Crew! This team has also done a great job of hitting the deadlines. Thanks for being on top of things, guys!

Sales Competition:

The sales portion of the project is going on right now!! Please support your favorite team by purchasing a box of their cookies! The order deadline for Halloween is October 25th!! Click Here for the Halloween order webpage.

The Grades:

At this point, I give all teams a 'C'. Don't worry though, 'C' is better than an 'A' and is the best grade you can earn from a Cookie Girl because C is for Cookie!! Way to go, teams! Keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to a strong finish! I'll be checking in after the project is completed with a wrap-up report!

Until then, have a very sweet day!!
